Religious Satyagraha, M.K. Gandhi

Bio: The prophet of 20th-century non-violence, Gandhi was to the Indian people a spiritual leader, a po litical realist, and a charismatic personal leader. His life view is deeply part of the religious and philo sophical teachings of Hinduism and the ethics of Christianity. His writings and his life attest to his belief in the power of truth, the redemptive power of suffering, and the total equality of all men.

Quotations:

"Mixing up of motives is damaging in any species of Satyagraha, but in religious Satyagraha it is altogether inadmissible. It is fatal to use or allow religious Satyagraha to be used as a cloak or a device for advancing an ulterior political or mundane objective."
